Credit: 1Students will become familiar with and use basic drama skills such as tableau, mime, movement, improvisation, story telling, script writing, rehearsal and performance. Tests and final exams are comprised of performance pieces and a research project (The History of Theater). Work in small and large groups is a major part of the course.
This course is designed to promote and develop self-confidence, communication, self-discipline, commitment, and the ability to work constructively in groups.
Prerequisites: Drama 1 Grade of B or above, or by Drama teacher approval.

Students will explore several periods and genres in theatre history (Greek and Roman; Elizabethan; Italian Comedy; Chinese Theatre). Students will also study the writings of Stanislavsky and experiment with method acting. Students will learn exercises to develop physical movement and voice projection. Individual and small group work is a major part of the course.
This course is designed to further develop the skills acquired in Drama and to encourage the student to perfect his/her acting skills. This course is excellent preparation for students intending to pursue Dramatic Arts at the university level.
